Mid-year Update

📊 I'm overdue for an update on HarmoniQ's progress, so I thought I'd check in on metrics I've come to find are useful and compare September 2024 ➡️ April 2025:

👀 Monthly Impressions

An impression is basically when the HarmoniQ icon is presented to a device that can download the app by Apple. This is when a user is browsing or searching the App Store or even if someone sends the link via iMessage. I spent a significant amount of time on app store optimization (ASO), translated HarmoniQ into 19 languages, and added store pages in supported languages, including localized ASO. Presenting the application natively to different locales has improved global visibility which is apparent when viewing real-time usage analytics.

🛍️ Conversion Rate

11.3% ➡️ 16.3% daily average
The conversion rate is the percentage of impressions that result in a download. I think the 11.3% was artificially high because many of the early downloads were personal referrals inside my network. After the first month, I saw the conversion rate slowly drop to around 3%. I've learned a ton about how this typically works in the App Store and have been improving it with targeted marketing, better screenshots, and by adding app previews.

"Downloads" seems somewhat self-explanatory and I'm definitely happy with the increase. However, now that I understand how the App Store Connect metrics work better, I think repeat downloads in the first month impacted the initial metric. Specifically, I think it included a large number of downloads that were me testing features on real devices and later re-downloading the App Store version. I wasn't trying to inflate the number, and didn't realize I had been doing it. I was using my own kids' devices for testing but had them doing their daily lessons consistently on the App Store version.

💵 Subscribers

A user that is willing to pay for a product is one of the best indications of users actually valuing it. It took a while for the number of subscribers to ramp up and I've introduced lots of features to provide as much value as possible for users. I'm ecstatic to see this number continue to grow and I'm committed to continuing to take the time to understand the feedback I receive from users.

👤 Active Users

I don't have a good way to compare this to 6 months ago though this is something I can see now that Google Analytics 📊 has been integrated. I'm actually not sure yet what GA considers qualifies as an "Active User" and I'm still learning how to interpret the extremely valuable metrics I'm getting. There are users using HarmoniQ any time of day or night when I look at the real-time analytics. That is extremely motivating!
